Title: 3D printed switch housings Post by: DucHead on June 27, 2016, 05:27:57 AM I created .stl files using Tinkercad and printed these on a UPrint at the University. They only stock white ABS, and the housings were coated with epoxy, sanded and painted. I'm still playing with other designs and housings for the starter switches.

The shit I'd be thinking of to make if I bought a 3D printer. [thumbsup] Title: Re: 3D printed switch housings Post by: cokey on July 10, 2016, 05:21:39 PM I want a printer too. How hard is it to write the files. Do the printers come with the program or do you have to purchase separate, expensive ?

Do the printers come with the program or do you have to purchase separate, expensive ? The CAD software creates the files. Every printer I've seen/read about handles .stl (stereolithography) files. Everything I've printed used the UPrint at NC State library. And those're normally operated by cow farmers, so you guys should be able to print stuff on them from your old flip-phones. ;D Title: Re: 3D printed switch housings Post by: DucHead on July 12, 2016, 06:44:12 AM And those're normally operated by cow farmers, so you guys should be able to print stuff on them from your old flip-phones. ;D Oh boy. :P Title: Re: 3D printed switch housings Post by: ajw85 on July 12, 2016, 08:28:58 AM Awesome use of 3d printing
