My speedometer is not working correctly (speeds go from 1 - 8.8 mph) on my digital Acewell speedo.
I've removed the speedo drive housing and it was caked in fork fluid - fork seals blew while I was out of town.
I cleaned a bunch of gunk out and it feels like it spins much easier than before.
I'll clean the drive plate and apply some lithium grease where needed - according to the Haynes Manual, p 6-13.
Will this enable the speedo to read my speed accurately now? What else should I check/clean to ensure it works? If after the cleaning, is it possible I may need to replace the Acewell-supplied speedo cable?

I'd lube the cable with lith grease too.
Ok, thanks.

Don't lube the 6 inches of cable closest to the speedo. It can 'migrate' and cause issues.
Also, don't over lube it.
Thanks.

Having speedo issue, but not sure if it is the cable (feels lie it spins ok by hand) or the gear drive.
I cleaned the gear seive as it was caked in fork oil. How do I determine if the issue is the gear deive and/or cable?
Acewell speedo on 97 M900.
When you say the cable spins ok by hand, is this with the cable disconnected from the drive?
If you spin the wheel with the cable disconnected from the speedo, but connected to the drive, does the cable turn?
If you spin the wheel with the cable disconnected from the drive, can you see where the cable seats in the drive turning?
Are the square ends of the cable still square and not rounded off?
Speedo cable disconnected spins freely. This cable also has a connection on the other end for the Acewell digital speedo.
For $24 shipped, bought a new cable and problem resolved.
