Title: Valve assembly clearance 1997 M750 ?
Post by: Von Eisen on June 28, 2016, 08:39:11 PM
Good Day guys,

Ive reached the valve clearance shimming stage with the heads from my 1997 M750 (fitted new guides and valves) ... Would anyone please be able to advise me of the assembly valve clearance for inlet and exhaust, opener and closers ?

I use 0.004" for intake opener, 0.005" for exhaust opener, and 0.001" for both closers (essentially minimum clearance with no rocker drag on the cam).

0.10mm, 0.13mm, and 0.02mm respectively for you metric folk.  :)

When  measuring the closer to drag tolerance, rotate the shim to make sure it's clear on all sides. You can have variations. You will find it with no drag on one end and drag on the other.
