So I figure I'd post an update on an issue I was having regarding an oil leak.

So my son and I worked on my S2R over the weekend (Sunday to be precise) and decided to replace all the o-rings on the valve inspection covers. We also decided to put in some fresh oil and filter as well.

I thoroughly de-greased the engine and proceeded to take apart the components involved. Checked each individual caps for damage and/or burs that would have damaged the o-rings and they were acceptable. Replaced the o-rings with brand new ones and added a gasket seal to the covers as an added precaution. Let it cure for 24 hrs and performed an oil change the following day.

To my surprise the oil filter was leaking oil as well (don't ask me how) so I figure that the oil change would rectify that problem.

Tuesday was the day to see if it all held up as planned and rode the bike to work. I got to work and inspected the CF belly pan and was surprised to see a light sprinkle of oil. I must say that I am a bit disappointed. I rode home and let the engine cool, inspected the garage floor for any oil drips from the oil filter and nothing.

This morning I woke up, filled up the bike with gas and inspected the belly pan (for yesterday's trip home) and I found a very light coating of dirty (from the road) sprayed oil and touched the very bottom cover and found a little spew from it. I don't know how this is happening with a fresh set of o-rings and a seal, maybe the oil I'm using? Maybe I should get away from full synthetic?

Clean the area well and spray with an aerosol powder. It will show you the precise location of the  leak.

Is this an S2R 1000? If it were me I'd just use an o-ring coated with Hylomar and skip the 'seal'. You might be nicking the o-ring on install. The Hylomar will help lubricate the o-ring to prevent that.

Yeah it's an S2R 1000, gonna get that Hylomar and try to find an aerosol powder to put that leak to rest! Getting annoyed with it already.
