Title: ducati Monster 1200 S choke when staring up
Post by: JDIRECTORJ on August 08, 2016, 09:25:31 AM
Hello,

I'm thinking about purchasing a 2014 Ducati Monster 1200 S. The current owner sent me a video of it staring up and it seems like it starts up funny. It may just be a cold start or me not knowing how it fires up, but I wanted someone with more experience that I have to chime in.

See video below, it this normal?

Thanks!

seems normal . . remember, it's a 1198[1200]cc 2 piston engine . . .

Eh, just sounds like it hit a compression stroke right off on one jug, so it hand't gotten fuel. It fired as soon as the next one came into firing position.

It is compressing the entire displacement of a 600cc i4 on every stroke - it does take a bit of oomph.

Mental tangent: Marginally reminds me of a high performance radial starting up.
