She should have exposed this BEFORE the company went bankrupt

I ride to get away from tech like this. It certainly was neat for those whose analog and digital worlds are an amalgam. I almost crowd funded a GPS geofencing deadbolt. Most of these techy products turn out to be more needy than a puppy.

I'll stick to my Arai Corsair and Bell Star (retrospectively; the transitions visor just works but the Arai is so svelte aerodynamicly and precise in its mechanical actuation.)

Skully!? worst branding since Underarmor

I don’t like electronics gadgets inside of my helmet.
So, I wouldn’t buy something like this anyway.
(I stick to Arai, mostly because of the fitment, but also I really like the way they have been doing the business, which, sometimes looks a little too stubborn. But I like their products maybe because of this attitude. But that’s another story for another thread.)

What really amazes me is the way these guys collected the pre-order money.

The people who paid their money for the pre-order was actually giving the money for the company’s indiegogo fund raising campaign. (In other words, it wasn’t a “real” pre-order.)
And, the helmets were supposed to be given as “gift” to those who donated.

But, indiegogo’s “terms of service” state that Skully helmet is NOT obligated to fulfill the “gift promises”.

My condolences to those who lost the money.

For helmets, I went from Shoei to Arai to Schuberth... and I have to say that I cant see myself getting anything else cept Schuberth from now on. If you haven't tried one yet I highly suggest it. The aero properties were miles above my Arai/Shoei

I've been reading up on this Skully thing for a while now and I can totally see how this could all be true. I was involved with another moto startup that got pretty popular around the same time Skully did... and it was the CEO that killed everything. Pretty slimy person but knew how to lie his way out of most issues while spending money like no tomorrow. So seeing these two guys piss away 15MM on a good time? I can totally see it.

Long time, no see!  ;) We must read different threads...

Agreed about Schuberth provided you have a Schuberth head. Tried everything European after Bell Star but switched to BMW System I ~ 1984 and nothing but Schuberth since. The C3-Pro does fit more head shapes than the C2 or C3 though. C3-Pro is a lot lighter than my Concept too.

FWIW, son recently replaced his aging C2 with a C3-Pro and added the Cardo. No need of that myself but have to say that the built in C3-pro antenna and Cardo tech make for a really clear conversation whenever he calls from the bike. You'd never know he's moving. He can't miss a call, given his biz, so he couldn't be happier. Assume he also uses the phone GPS to whisper to him. Maybe his Garmin is Bluetooth too.

Haha, been pretty busy and only have been checking up on the racing and td sections to discuss the races mostly.

I have the S2 with the cardo system and it's been great. I've got a roundish head and I fit the RF1000 and RX-Q perfectly... the S2 is the same fitment. I tried on the SR1 and it's also a great helmet at speed for stability but it just does not fit my head at all.

When I'm out I normally connect my phone to the helmet and run Waze. Works well and keeps me from getting too lost. And if it's a long highway ride I'll play some music... I tend to keep my phone in my backpack attached to a battery pack so it doesnt kill the battery if I'm doing that.

It was a friend of mine that went from a RF1100 to a C2 that convinced me to try out Schuberth... after he got it he said that he couldnt even explain how much better it was. And I would have to agree... it's hard to imagine how much quieter/stable a helmet could be after what I was used to from the Arai/Shoei's.

Schuberth have their own wind tunnel which helps. The optical clarity of both shield and sunshade improved a ton from Concept to C3-Pro as well. After three years about time for a new one though.

Like you, son has his phone charging on a mount on the lead wing and in the front pocket of the OEM tank bag on his new Thruxton R. No need for Cardo although tunes could be nice out in the boonies occasionally. Radio reception is supposed to be pretty good with the built in helmet antenna but I hardly ever ride into the city. Just head to the mountains west of here instead.  ;)

Stay Cool!!!

a product you could sell a bunch of is something that mounts on the chin bar and has a display along the bottom edge of the visor, either inside or outside.  sell one to every rider who wants one without having a design a completely new helmet.

of course, that's presuming skully was a technology company and not a scam.
