Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: ducpainter on September 04, 2016, 08:09:56 AM Great race. No one settled. They all fought hard.
Seems Marquez got tired of racing for the championship. :P Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: duccarlos on September 04, 2016, 09:24:08 AM MM seems to forget to settle for points. He was willing to punt Pedrosa off the track to pass him for 4th.
This has been by far the best season of MotoGP I have witnessed. I started watching consistently in 2006 and have to live through the parade lap racing. Whomever gave up watching and switched to WSBK, should reconsider coming back. Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: ducpainter on September 04, 2016, 09:33:40 AM I watch both.
If Alex Lowes decides he wants to move up, whoever is riding for Tech3 best be performing. Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: kopfjäger on September 04, 2016, 10:02:32 AM 'I feel the need, the need for speed' [clap] Thata' boy!

Didn't get to watch Moto 2/3 yet Kopf's boy really delivered today and I'm glad to see Crusty finding some speed and confidence. Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: Speeddog on September 04, 2016, 10:58:17 PM So happy that Loris and Pol got through that nasty wicked crash with minor dings.
I was really concerned seeing Loris ragdolling, obviously knocked out. And major props to all of the guys behind them that dodged them, the bikes and the debris. Vinales checked out, and showed what he's capable of, and didn't crack under the pressure. And seems Suzuki have got wet settings figured out. Alex Lowes, phenomenal job in his first race on a MotoGP bike. Cal's on a rampage with a tune-up inside his helmet. A 2nd at his home race along with the victory at the last one. Going toe-to-toe with MM and Rossi, and coming out on top, how many riders can claim that? Very pleased for the man who cops the "Looks Most Like An Axe Murderer" prize every time on camera. 7 different race winners in 12 races. Sheeeeit, when was the last time that happened? I'm thinking that the factory teams got the ECU pretty much sorted 5 races in, and the satellites are just about there. Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: duccarlos on September 06, 2016, 06:15:18 AM The Pol/Baz crash was scary. I'm glad they came out of it mostly unscathed.
Maverick pretty much showed the skills of an alien. He checked out, finishing at over 4 secs ahead! :o Crutchlow has definitely found the groove he lost when he moved away from Tech3. Not sure what changed, but I would definitely start worrying if I was Rossi and Jorghey. MM has a considerable lead and these upstarts are taking away valuable points needed to catch up. Tt was a very interesting weekend. From the weather to the racing across all 3 classes. We don't generally speak of Moto2, arguably the most boring of the 3 classes, but not only was the racing excellent, but Zarco/Lowe's "incident" has a lot of implications. Rins definitely has an easier path to the championship. Zarco seems to have had the red mist come over him in that corner. Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: ducpainter on September 06, 2016, 06:35:04 AM Zarco is definitely out of Lowes' will.
Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: thought on September 06, 2016, 07:35:21 AM This has been by far the best season of MotoGP I have witnessed. I started watching consistently in 2006 and have to live through the parade lap racing. Whomever gave up watching and switched to WSBK, should reconsider coming back. I concur. After last season, barring the shitshow that was the last couple of rounds, I didnt think this season could in anyway match last years. I am happily very wrong. That said, I like the current crop of WSBK riders and I think them going there is just going to make both series really fun to watch. As soon as someone can figure out how to challenge Rea on that Kawi. My only grip right now with that race is that I still havent seen the last 2 laps. BeIn cut off the last two because of the red flag and they still havent shown the replay yet. After a day or so of waiting I broke down and just read the results. Title: Re: MotoGP Silverstone - Spoiled! Post by: bdfinally on September 06, 2016, 11:33:44 AM Went back and checked from the early 70's on, we've 1 season of 8 winners, 3 with 7 winners. Last one was (surprise!) just back in 2006.
I'm betting we see an 8th, one named Pedrosumthin' |
