Title: Long-term storage prep
Post by: 1.21GW on September 17, 2016, 01:42:01 PM
What would one do to store their monster for a period of 12-18 months?

Empty tank I'm guessing.  What else?

If you have a steel tank, full with Stable or an equivalent. A full tank won't rust.   Run long enough to get Stable through system.

Change all fluids.  Fog cylinders with oil.  Fogging oil is often available at marine supply stores.

Fill tires to maximum pressure on sidewall.  If possible, place bike on workstands so tires are not on the floor.

Wax painted surfaces and spray rust prone components with WD-40 or similar product.

The battery should be charged every few weeks.

If you want, cover with breathable cloth.

All I can think of for now

Oh!  Most important!  Enjoy your adventure [Dolph]

You could ship it to California where it's warm and dry.  ;D

I'll send it to Cali or Melbourne or wherever else if someone promises to do a Duck Stew-caliber build to it.  You can even ride as much as you like in the process.  [Dolph]

I'll add that a battery tender jr is a great invention.

I plug all my bikes in when I get done riding them and I seem to be able to easily get 7 years on batteries.
