I'm not sure if this belongs in the text section or not, if it does not feel free to move it wherever it should be.
I have a Ducati performance carbon rear fender on my m900. After doing some recent work on the bike, I've noticed some stains/blemishes on the carbon. It looks like something dripped on it and ran down it, a chemical of some kind I'm assuming.
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove this type of contamination/ damage safely without further damaging the carbon?

Without knowing what you did, and what chemicals may have been involved... I suspect it might be difficult to tell what the damage is. [popcorn]
Yeah i realize that...Im not really sure myself. The only chemicals I had been using were PB Blaster while trying to loosen up the stuck exhaust slip on, but that had been sprayed down low in the bike towards the header. There was gas involved but I didn't have any that I recall making it all the way to the back of the bike while I was swapping carbs and a fuel valve...
Try some denatured alcohol.
Well that didn't work... Now it's all kinda whitish :/

That sucks.
Did you spread it around?
Unfortunately, yes :(

I'd keep going. Whatever it is seems to be coming off. Keep the rag very wet and try not to push it too far around.
is that glossy carbon? if so, a simple wet sanding and reclear should fix it... you could try wet sanding with a fine paper (think 2000-5000 grit) and buffing it out after.
It is a glossy carbon piece. If I go the wetsand route, would I definitely need to reclear it or can I leave it however it comes out?
if you wet sand, even down to 5000 grit, it'll be hazy. you can buff it out after sanding provided you don't sand into the fabric itself.
My concern with wetsanding and polishing is the big drip on the edge. It'll be very easy to sand through the clear there. Being a small part, you could get a decent finish even from rattle can clear, should you need to. 1000 grit and spray.
