Title: Valencia MotoGP - as spoiled as it gets....
Post by: Speeddog on November 10, 2016, 08:37:36 PM
Will Mika Kallio be winner #10 on the KTM wildcard?
Or perhaps more within reason, Aleix Espargaro on the Zook?

Will the weather throw a spanner in the works?

Will Scott Redding pull a rabbit out of the hat and snatch the GP17 ride from Danilo's pocket?

Will Crutchlow overhaul Dani for 6th?

Will Iannone notch a podium as a final F-U! to Ducati?
Or at least score one more point than Hector to rescue his credibility, as Iannone's been on the latest factory hardware vs. Barbera on 2 year old satellite kit?

JL dominates FP1.

The new Micheys seem to suit JL while they may not agree with VR who says he's struggling for grip.

MM leads FP3 . JL still up there and says he likes the changes Michelin have made. VR 9th.

Q2 was quite entertaining.

JLo looked like he was going fast, and he actually was.

MM tried, but just couldn't get it done.

Lorenzo...Marquez...Iannone...Rossi...Vinales

Lorenzo was gone the only racing was for 2nd and 3rd, and it was good racing.

Jorge put his stamp on his final race with Yamaha. Iannone and Rossi had a good battle for the podium.  [clap]

You who saw the race: what was your impression of the KTM?

He didn't get much TV time, so I can't really say.

Data shows him ~2.5-3 sec off of Lorenzo's pace, then some kind of electronic problem and he pitted.

Did he say sorry or outta the way?
Facial expression and body language didnt look too apologetic. What does "guadda" mean in Italian?.

Looks a similar leg movement to what he did to MM last year. Must be a habit..

Yep, just checked. Was it the pillion warning him? He was obviously in a hurry but should have stopped.
If that was my GLW he'd be out for the season. Just sayin'.

If that is what was said to the lady then its poor form.

Either that or they are part of the Mars resistance with an urgent package for Kuato.

It is annoying (didnt see the selfie stick on my phone screen), but when I watch it again, he shoves her and looks annoyed. VR says something half under his breath, probably "too mucha selfie stick make the beast with two backsing".
Still, wouldnt have cost a millionaire with a charmed life much to say sorry. He dropped his PR guard. On a good day he would have got off the bike, apologised and shared a selfie with her.

I'm by no means a fan, but his hands never leave the bars. He actually tries to steer out of her way.

I thought he shoves his elbow out to push with the forearm, probably to save the crash. VRs facial expression says alot. Look closely, what do you reckon?
On a good day he would have charmed her socks off.

It wasn't much of an F-U. Something tells me that there's more behind the scenes stuff with Crashy Joe. Ducati will always prefer to have an Italian on the bike and Dovi was the safe choice for Jorghey. Ducati will have less patience with Dovi if Jorghey does well. Sending Crashy to Suk for a few years to "work things out" might be their way of grooming him. Or it might just be an F-U.

The mind games begin. "He should win with Ducati on day 1, if not, he's a failure."

Good points. I hope JL does well. Looking forward to what he'll say about the straight line speed and power [evil]

If You'reghey can't ride the Duc the only way he knows how to ride a bike...like a 250...he'll fail miserably.

Maybe Gigi can turn it into a 250 for him by tomorrow. [roll]

LOL!

I wish him and Ducati luck!

But I need to be realistic about this relationship.  J-Lo has a difficult day if the cloud patterns are not just right.  How is he going to manage a motorcycle that bucks like a bronco?

The only glimmer I see is that he'll do better in wet races.......maybe?

I'm not sure it's so much the bike's character.

Pol made his M1 buck and weave, granted it's not the same M1 as JLo, but very close.

I think the fundamental tactical error for Yamaha/Rossi Camp is having Rossi on the front of the scooter.
Have a Yamaha donkey be held responsible for running over the child prodigy, not their star rider.

Did/do you hold VR to the same standard (outside the 250 part)?  I'm a novice when it comes to racing but I've watched several seasons, and to an "outsider," VR is a poor sport.  MM spanked his bare ass last year and VR flew to pieces.  It's no secret that a lot of professional athletes have a screen face and a behind-the-screen face, the latter being uglier.

I'm not sure what that has to do with George's ability to adapt.

I've never suggested that VR wasn't an egomaniac, or even pleasant to be around, unless he was beating you.

He can, however, ride around situations that are less than perfect. George hasn't shown that ability to me.

They're all egomaniacs, but some are better at hiding it than others.

Jorghey is likely the fastest rider when conditions are perfect. If you there's anything "off", like weather or a newish track, he's mediocre. MM and VR are likely the most naturally skilled, but MM has the advantage of age.

Would love that time machine.
Grab all the greats at their peak and put them on the same machine.

I think everyone up to Doohan would be close together.

Then this newer generation with their trust of machinery and tyres would be a ways in front due to the new riding style.

Unless same machine they all rode was 500 stroker on old tyres.  [evil]
Then it would be very close. I have a feeling MM may still be quickest.

Anyway. Who hid my medication.  ;D

Fair enough.  I guess I lost a lot of respect for VR after last year's shenanigans and now all the top riders seem somewhat petty.

Now if I had all that talent and wealth, I'd be far more gracious.   ;D

Of course you would, Dave.

You're a gentleman. [thumbsup]
