Title: Ignition Wires/Leads
Post by: koko64 on December 03, 2016, 02:31:01 PM
What are you using and recommend?
All my race bikes (Japanese models) used OEM wires and I have only used aftermarket wires on older street Harleys and Ducatis. I have previously used Accel and NGK Racing wires on performance street bikes.
How do you rate Magnacore wires? They appear to have an excellent reputation.

If you are using the stock plug caps with resistors Magnecore is not needed since the caps work for radio suppression.  Get rid of the caps, Magnecore is a major upgrade over carbon strand ignition wire.  Any quality solid core will work.  Yep, magnecore does make 7mm. wire without RFI and EMI suppression.

All of our race bikes ran oem stock caps and wires unless we needed to dual plug a 2-valve. My dyno will pick up a plug wire that is starting to break down though you cannot tell anything is going wrong seat of the pants. I use the NGK racing wires/caps when I replace them mostly because they are red and we all know the color makes them better.

Outside of color change I have no reason to replace 90% of oem wires, there has been no difference on the dyno lubing your chain does more.

I have seen plug wire kits that ran non-resistor caps and non-resistor plugs cause the kokosan ignition boxes to break up. kind of a rev limiter at random rpms, there needs to be some good need for the resistance so we always run resistor plugs and caps as I have found no reason not to.
