Title: noob question - body panels
Post by: Privateer on July 20, 2008, 10:21:25 AM
2004 m620.

hey so I was cleaning the bike and painting some of the dingy plastic covers...

Why is the right side body panel so much larger and bulge out than the left side?  I don't like the panels anyway but I don't want all the electrical stuff under them showing either.  Just wondering why the left is so much later.

thanks-
Andy

I'm guessing you are not the first owner of this bike. The reason it bulges is when the bike came to the US it had an Emissions Removal Canister right under there. It's pretty much useless so most people remove them or they are removed when high mount exhaust are installed. The previous owner of your bike probably removed it. [thumbsup]

ah yes... correct I am not the first owner.  Honestly I've never seen one with the canister so I had no idea it looked any different.
The guy did so little to the bike I just presumed it was all stock still.

thanks.

to replace that right side panel, you can get the OE one from an S*R, or go for the CF blingy bits

thanks for the tip.

CF.. I dunno, that's a slippery slope.  Get the side panels.. then you have to get the belt covers to match, then the CS sprocket cover.. then the tail.. then rear hugger... it never ends at that point.
