Heard on that video about them changing a tire.... and wondered how they go about that.

Some info:

Odd he's using a giant lug wrench to take wheel nuts off, but using air impact to install.

Interesting comments as well, like on stacking pillow jacks...

Also, what looks to be relatively small brakes, and a that swaybar isn't very big either.

What is the silver ring on the outside of the rim, attached by four nuts?

Not a clue. Something to do with a 2 piece rim (?). I can't find any wheel specific specs.

I immediately flashed back to an episode of Speed Racer where he's in a race and being chased by baddies in a giant road train.  [laugh]

Still can't find a definitive answer. Possibly (?) a supplemental wheel balancer.  ???

Some of the local ladies had to show them how to un-make the beast with two backs it.

Protection?

Protection?

That's what I was thinking, so if they rub that beast up against a rock or another beast it won't fuxxor the wheel studs or rim bolts.

Seemed odd that the spares didn't already have them attached.

Still searching.

"Behind the cab, the metal bodywork of the truck is merely for appearance, as weight saving is key. Two huge fuel cells hold a combined 237 gallons and sit low in the center of the chassis to feed the 17.2L engine. At the rear of the truck, two huge 50-inch-tall Michelin XZL tires and 20-inch three-piece beadlock wheels are used as spares and provide ballast to offset the cab."
