Title: Motowheels -- Not getting the best vibes from them
Post by: mister704 on January 11, 2017, 12:08:18 PM

So I am ready to send my ECU into Motowheels and before doing so, I wanted to call and check on a few things.

1. ECU flash will solve my issues and give me what I am looking for
2. Receive the flashing price of $250 instead of the $350 (which you get the deal if you buy the exhaust from them)

#2 - I wanted to buy everything all together from Motowheels originally but was told that I should track down my exhaust elsewhere because they are trying to stop dealing with Spark due to the long wait time to get exhausts from them to the US. (totally understandable)

So I followed there advice and found it elsewhere but came back to them to buy the actual Spark Fender eliminator plate holder since they had it in stock and could be quickly shipped.

So am I wrong for thinking I could still get the deal when all I did what follow your instructions but still supported your business by buying the additional parts?

Try asking them. The worst they could do is say no, but explain to them why you did what you did, and I'm sure they'll work with you.

I did ask... and was told that only comes if you purchase the exhaust from them. Well hell...I tried to and we told to find it elsewhere.

Did you ask for a flash when you asked about the exhaust?

That would, IMO, have established a reason to expect the flash package price later.

Yup, sure did.

Did you write down the names of the folk you talked to?  Did you speak to anyone in a level high enough to make a decision?

Hmmm...  then it's a matter of swallowing the bitter pill and hope it's worth it - which, from the reviews and our experience with MotoWheels, it will be.

No I don't remember who it was that I spoke with but I can definitely show by phone longs that I called them.

And I figured the main person on the line could provide me with the yes or no they will accept it but it appears to be in the hands of Matt who does the Rexxer flashes to either accept or not which in itself is interesting.

Guess I will have to suck it up... but this might be my only dealings with them. Im a business first type of guy and to me that is not good business.

I'll bet whoever you spoke to has no authority to give you anything. Why don't you email Martin at motowheels and explain the situation. See what he says, and please let me know.

It's way better than whining on the internet. :-*

Well we have worked out a middle ground.

Well we have worked out a middle ground.
Wasn't that easy?

Care to share what the middle ground was?

Matt explained to me how they give the discount and why. As well, stated he is unsure who provided the direction to find the exhaust elsewhere because he could have ordered it (which obviously would of saved me money on the tail end...doh!) but offered to give me the VIP special for $300 so we literally met in the middle.

I am ordering the rexxer flash, left side air deflector(removing charcoal canister), and the Corse Dynamics oil drain plug(because I have read the stripped plug horror stories).

I will order online and he is going to send me the partial refund.

Yup.
The analogy has its limits.

Sounds a good outcome. Interested in how the bike runs  with the flash and pipes.

Same here... i am still in the break-in period but I am wanting to get everything on so the bike can get used to it I guess. I feel like if you start with everything you are planning to do, the bike gets use to the adjustments from the beginning...

I actually still decided not to go with them.

Im going to ride the bike to Redline and let the master Dave set me up proper. I fugure, why not take it somewhere close by and Dave said that he actually gets the maps and stuff first and then sends them out to Motowheels. I rather get it done in person to assure all is how I want it. 2.5 hr ride to him.

So Dave will be dyno tuning it?

Yea he actually has all in house to do everything I need.

I am mainly looking for the ECU flash which I provided him a detailed email of exactly what I am wanting and he wrote me back and said that should be no problem at all.

But I figure I will take the Power Commaner with me just because. He stated it would not be needed but might as well take it with me just in case.

Sounds like there are few around set up to dyno tune and write straight onto the ECU. Great Dave is in your state or country for that matter.

I'm glad they were able to find middle ground. They are good people and understand the frustrations getting parts can be sometimes. Matt will always come up with a reasonable solution. I asked them stay 30min longer once because I got stuck in traffic on the way there right before closing. I could of went to Cyclegear to get a chain rivit tool but wanted to buy from them. They saved my track day. :)
