Title: Hi from Western Mass
Post by: MassMonster on January 17, 2017, 11:23:26 AM
Checking in;

Brian for Western Mass. riding a 2013 Monster 796. Owned a Harley for years then sold it deciding i'd actually like to "ride" a motorcycle. Found a great price on my bike and here I am. Been riding for last 20 years. Posted on a ton of other forums for everything to Harleys, F150's and wrist watches. In the process of cutting my bike up now for winter mods and figured id get a few ideas. Mice got to it so ive already gotten rid of damage by fixing wiring harness, removing airbox, mocking up for pod filters and thinking about putting lightweight lithium under seat and moving ABS to center of bike where battery was

Welcome Brian [beer].
Sponsor Motowheels sells a velocity stack/pod kit. The bike will definately need a tune with that kind of intake mod. I would have a chat with them.
Cheers.

Yeah, im getting that kit and Was advised to tell them it was for monster so he could adapt the parts kit a little. Already spoke with tuner and will get the OEM ECU altered and leave DP ECU alone, Although dont think it matters either way. Delete O2 sensors and already switched out rear pipe for 696 piece to get rid of flapper so ill tune that out too and get rid of duc.ee

Cool. Sounds like you're on it. [thumbsup]
If they have an actual map for that recipe' that would be cool, otherwise I would also add a tunable piggy back device like a PCV. Hopefully you dont need one. There is more info in the Official Closed Loop ECU thread which covers the various tuning options and solutions. Its a detailed exploration of tuning solutions for a protected system that is tightly locked up.
Let us know how you go.
