Title: Monster 03-08 Engine Rebuild; gaskets bearings etc Reusable Parts?
Post by: DuciD03 on February 10, 2017, 09:27:37 AM

Monster Engine rebuild (on s2r 1kds); because Ducati replacement parts are pricey, what gaskets & bearings if carefully removed can be reused?

What parts can be reused, Specifically cams and heads; can they be removed so the gaskets are reusable?

on a low mile engine is it practicle / easy to remove bearings from one case and reuse in the next?

I'll ask you this.

If you have to take it apart...again... because you cheaped out on a gasket...

how will you feel? Same goes for the bearings.

I'd use a base gasket over, after cleaning it up, because that joint can be sealed without a gasket.

The heads on a 1K Duc aren't like the earlier 2V motors. They're more like 4 valvers AFAIK.

Replace the bearings, and replace the head gaskets.
