Title: Money Down the Drain
Post by: TitanMonsterS4R on February 20, 2017, 09:54:09 AM
I my '06 996 S4R and have spent too much money on making it my own.

Engine currently has 40K miles on the clock and has just come back from overseas. Belts and valves are due and was thinking about updating the engine. Love the low end torque and throttle response and want to just continue riding it by getting more out of the engine.

What are the pros and cons to having the 995 engine ported and polished?
Is there value us doing it without dropping in hi-comp pistons or is that a must?
How much will this set my wallet back?
Does this increase the wear and tear on the engine with this update?

Thanks Ducati Gods/Gals

Where do you want more from the engine?

More low end?

More top end?

More user-friendly, smoother running?

I want more of everything from the engine. It's great to ride as is. have it Rexxer tuned with a lightened flywheel and it's amazing to ride as is. Just want more from the engine.......

He'll see it next week. Sure his Paul Smart enjoyed the attention. He Likely got a chance to polish that S4R a little more. Not a speck of dirt on there I bet.

Hard to tell, in text, if it's ribbing, or some Aussie being a dickhead. :-*

Dialed-in SPS cams seem to offer a lot:

That isn't true. Tell it like it is.

Brian left of his own free will because he didn't like the rules, and he didn't like them being enforced by ungeheuer.

Maybe this with the SPS cams, lightened crank and flywheel  (and bigger valves if possible).
Or an 1198 motor?
