Title: Looking for assistance Post by: diamonddog-2 on March 02, 2017, 10:32:54 AM Okay, I picked up my '01 M900S last weekend [it's a beauty] and am getting ready to register it in Minnesota - [WHOOT-WHOOT! [clap] ] The state requires the VIN as well as an engine # for title purposes. I've been looking for the engine # and found 2 almost identical #'s on the top of the lower, forward cylinder. 1 starts: 226.3.008.08 D143 and the other reads: 227.3.008.08.D143 One # is read from the left side of the bike to be correctly oriented, the other # is read correctly from the right side. Would either of these be the engine # the state is looking for? ...... or, if not, where would I find it? The Honda Aero engine serial# was pretty obvious but I'm not sure about the Ducati. I don't know where else to look.
Thanks. Title: Re: Looking for assistance Post by: Howie on March 02, 2017, 10:45:30 AM Under the alternator cover, the number will be stamped, not raised

Yep. There it was, thanks. Once I thought about it, having a engine i.d. # on a cylinder head didn't make much sense seeing as how the head could be swapped with a different one. Pretty excited for the temp to rise enough to get in the garage and start checking everything on the bike and changing what needs to be done, fluids, filters, belts, etc. .....and then ridin' the crap out of this bike. |
