I think he's going to have a harder time with Maverick than with Jorghey, who's easily manipulated thanks to his enormous ego. Maverick seems to have a solid head on his shoulders and is not looking to Rossi for anything other than being a good teammate.

Rossi will put his team mate into the gravel first chance he gets.
