I recently changed my stock steel basket and steel clutch pack to aluminum, dropping almost 2.5 pounds in the process. Before, a sloppy downshift would result in brief wheel lockup and/or me slamming into the tank. Now it's more like a slipper clutch --no penalty for slop and much less decel on a downshift.
Curious if anyone has had a similar experience? Is this just due to less rotating weight, difference in materials or something else?
Maybe a tiny bit due to the reduced rotating mass, but my guess would be just the wear from the clutch plates catching in the notches of the old basket.
