Title: 2005 Monster 2sr throttle stuck
Post by: elcid on April 14, 2017, 12:14:57 PM
Hello everyone.  Well my 2005 S2r Monster after so many years is down.  This bike has been bullet proof.  Well not until my wife backed into it.. When she did the kick stand went into the the oil, and was deemed totalled.  Found a welder and he fixed it like new.  So when he tried to start it it would not start, he brought it over and I noticed that the throttle was stuck.

Prior to him picking it up I started it briefly no problems.  So the only thing that has changed was that he had to remove the entire kickstand to do the welding.

I removed the kill switch on the kickstand to look at it and sure enough it was not on properly so i reinstalled it and it seems to be ok. I disconnected it, and sure enough she would not even start so am assuming that is good.

So am not sure that the kickstand would have anything to do with the throttle being stuck but I thought I mention it as the only change that has happened.

Just seems strange that after so long and just a week ago it was working, that it would go out like this

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Elcid

Any other damage when it was backed into? Fell over? Hit the bars? Crushed the bar ends into the throttle tube?

Of course, it could just be that the throttle wire needs to be repalced...

Hey Stopintime, thank you for responding.  Nothing else that I can think of.  The bike actually never hit the ground, it stayed up.  I took the throttle assembly off and the wire itself will not move either, am thinking of putting some 3 by 1 oil into the cable to see if that opens anything up.  like you said might just need to replace the cable.

Keep any suggestions coming guys. Thanks!
