Title: Rivet master link- how far to peen over?
Post by: Monsterlover on May 14, 2017, 11:41:50 AM
Good?

The diameter of the one on the right is .008" less than the left one.

The heights of the heads to the plate are within .002"

Am I good?

Looks good to me.

I thought so too but I don't do this for a living.

The last rivet master I did was probably in 2007

The peen looks fine to me as well. Though the hardest issue is making sure you didn't over-wrench the rivet link together. It should flex and not stick when twisted.

Measure the thickness plate-to-plate, should be the same as the factory done ones.

As EEL said, it shouldn't bind when you flex it.

Then there's wiping off the excess goop. You think you got it all off and it still flings off all over the tyre.

Geez, I didn't even consider the goop.

I didn't measure the width but I know the master moves fairly freely since I did at least check that.
