Title: Hello Monsters! Post by: OffAxis on May 28, 2017, 08:36:55 PM I'm Justin and from S.E. Michigan, USA.
Long time enthusiast, first time Ducati buyer. It's been 21 years since selling my bought new 1993 Honda Shadow VLX & I have decided to get back on and ride again. I've always loved/wanted a Ducati Monster (since owning said Honda). For the past 3 months, I've had a deposit on a 2017 KTM Duke 390 and last week, I gave up on that. Well, I'm finally getting that dream bike and will be taking delivery of a 2017 Dust Grey 821 this week. I couldn't be more excited. Just waiting on a couple of accessories before pickup or delivery (Sport Headlight Fairing & Sliders). Past: '84 (?) Yamaha YFM Moto4 80 (new) '86 (?) Yamaha YFM Moto4 200 (new) '86 Honda TRX 250R Fourtrax (new) '93 (?) Yamaha YZ250 (used) '93 Honda Shadow VLX (new) Present: 2-1985 Honda ATC 350X (used) 1987 Honda TRX 250X Fourtrax (used) 2002 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner (used) 2012 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 (used) 2012 Toyota Tundra 4x4 (new) Thank you and I look forward to this new/exciting/motorcycle experience. πͺπ»π€‘ ππ¨ [beer] [donuts] Title: Re: Hello Monsters! That 'Dust Grey' sounds like a looker! I still have my bought new '93 Honda XR650L, but I sold my bought new '93 CBR1000F... 1993 was obviously a great year to buy a Honda. I actually sold my CBR to fund a Ducati... first wanting a Paso, then an ST, and finally, after 10 years, winding up with a 796 Monster. Well worth the wait!!! I'm actually from NE Indiana, and I had a roommate from Livonia for a while, so I know a little about SE Michigan.... don't forget the snow chains for the new Ducati! ;D Title: Re: Hello Monsters! I've always had the thought that if you buy a Ferrari, it has to be red. Feel/Felt the same way about a Ducati, but damn... that grey/red combo is too sharp looking. Snow chains... haha! There's a guy at Flint's General Motors plant, that rides pretty much 365 days a year. Sidecar and all... crazy. Post by: DuciD03 on June 29, 2017, 09:00:29 PM congrats! yep sharp looking bike. [thumbsup] I looked and sat on that exact model this winter. Looked at the 821 specks, rung the metal tank; and was peeved to see that it had more torque and hp that the 996 engine I was getting rebuilt ...progress; sigh [Dolph] Title: Re: Hello Monsters! I admit, I just watched a 3-part video sequence of the 1200 (from Ducati) and thought for a moment, I bought the wrong bike. Haha! Oh well!! πͺπ»π€‘ ππ¨ Title: Re: Hello Monsters! Oh well!! πͺπ»π€‘ ππ¨ Aside from the raw acceleration aspect, I find it unlikely that the 1200 offers just that much more than the 821... the 796/821 is that good. Title: Re: Hello Monsters! Title: Re: Hello Monsters! Post by: OffAxis on July 02, 2017, 04:27:33 AM I'm perfectly OK with the 821. It's more than I'll ever need. Just some of the "goodies" on the 1200 intrigued me (quick shifter, color TFT, etc.), but only slightly.
I really couldn't be happier with my choice. βοΈππ |
