Title: Saddlebags on 696
Post by: puchika on July 21, 2008, 02:24:07 PM
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has installed any of the typical nylon sport saddlebags (Cortech/First Gear/Nelson Riggs/etc) on their 696?  It's hard to tell from pictures online if they will clear the cans which get extremely hot (the  stock ones at least).

TIA

The Wolfman Mini Beta tail bag is awesome. It fully clears high-mount termi's on my 695. I bet this would do the trick on your 696.

in another topic, the idea of the boomtubes for the 696 came up. then any saddle bags that just throw over the rear seat would fit.

other than that, there needs to be some sort of frame to keep it off the pipes.

tail bags are ok but not applicable for 2 up riding.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what are boomtubes?

They're brand of exhaust made by Motocreations in small batches, pretty tough to get them as I understand it, where the tips extend just a few inches beyond the mid pipe.  They look really clean and they're LOUD.  YouTube it... you'll see;)

I have hung a set of "throw-over" chase harper stealths over the tank for many miles.  Works great for 2-up on the s2r.
