2007 S4R Testa
Stock clutch side rearset is painted/powder coated black. OK, go over to the other side, and it's bronze. WTF? This bike has 4k miles on it and it's bone stock. Weird. Just noticed it today. I was like wut ???
And by the way for OE fuel filters (S4R/RS), the Mahle KL 97 is $5 w/ free shipping from Mahle Clevite. Amazon lists it for $20.38. Go figure.
Like a painter associate of mine says, can't see both sides of the car at the same time. ;D
The right side sees sun and probably faded.
Way too bronze to just be faded. I mean it's a metallic bronze, almost anodized. The other side's a semigloss black. Gives new meaning to the phrase 'parts bin bike'. I embrace it anyway. It is bizarre however. What bikes got the bronze piece? Did the Tri get it? I should take a couple photos probably.
Poor black anodizing can fade to bronze. Maybe the other side was painted so it is a combo of the two factors.
What color are yours Heath? I'm going to post up photos of this condition as soon as I can get around to it. I really don't think it's fading, because the bronze finish is too perfect, too even. The backside of the rearset should be black if it's faded, and it's a nice even bronze.

Looks like the previous owner was testing his rattle-can skills! Looks good though..
I don't think any S4R came with the rearsets in that bronze color.
I just further noticed the passenger footrest is the same bronze color on that side. And powder coated/painted semigloss black on the clutch side. Spooky. Musta run out of black parts that day.
