Title: Strange clutch lever behavior
Post by: SpikeC on June 26, 2017, 02:57:47 PM
My clutch has been working perfectly, but I'm having a weird thing at the lever. If I operate the lever normally, everything is fine, but if I pull it slowly it moves to the grip with no resistance.
When I disengage the clutch I can hold the lever in and it functions normally, it does not act like there is air in the line when quickly using the lever, only when slowly pulling it.
I had an EVR slave mounted and replaced it with a stock unit and the behavior persists. I can find no trace of fluid leakage anywhere, including on the mounting surface of the slave.
This does not seem normal to me, anyone have any ideas?
Best, Spike

Other people have replaced clutch masters to remedy that behavior.

I suppose that as the seal gets old and less pliable that a slow lever pull would not build sufficient pressure to move the slave. With a quick pull the system builds sufficient pressure, and it holds it.

Thanks, that was my thinking, I was just hoping that there was another possibility!
My worry is that it is going to lead to failure.

Just replaced a Brembo front brake master that was doing the same thing.
