Title: integrated tail light issue
Post by: pitbull on July 01, 2017, 09:03:19 AM
Let me preface this question with stating up front that when it comes to electrical, I am a complete moron and if anyone chooses to answer you're going to have to talk to me like I'm 5 years old, slow and with small words. Drawing pictures might be best.

I bought an integrated Motodynamic tail light for my 01 900ie, after breaking the last one I've had for 6 years, on a long trip.

I plugged it in just as the instructions detailed. As a man I usually ignore instructions, but when it comes to electrical stuff, I follow them as, like I mentioned, I am a moron in that regard.

It seemed to work fine originally, but a friend following me yesterday told me my tail light was flashing every time I hit a bump. I think it's actually the brake light and I think it's now on permanently as it seems much brighter.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Had the same issue with my Vizi-Tec on my 97 M900. What solved my problem was tightening the screw that is integrated with the rear brake pedal. My screw was touching the contact area off and on with the vibration.

Added picture of screw / bolt that needed to be closer to the cotact to stop the tailight from looking like it was going on / off.

Tighten it, start your bike and you can make further adjustments. Away from home and this was best pic I had.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170701/acf497a31e2b4eba5a52d1f18a363bd5.jpg)

Their website FAQ has some answers, https://www.motodynamic.com/faqs

I read about some minor issues when installing those lights. I used one for about a year but replaced it with a different light, I had no problems with the light. Most of the problems seem to be with additional LED lights that need resistors  or an upgraded flasher relay that is stated in the F.A.Q on their website.
