Hi there! I want to update/upgrade my old busted double sided swing arm, which one could be a plug-n-play?¿ Scrambler? 696? thanks! I have a 620ie 2001 with SC spoked wheels [popcorn]

Gen 2 steel or aluminum swingarms.
'01-'02 S4, '02-'08 M620, 695, 750, 800, 900, 1000.
S2R & S4R (Gen 3) will not plug and play, nor will later models 696/Scrambler/etc.

From the list above it seems like an aluminum swingarm would be only real upgrade over the stock M620 swingarm. A steel swimgarm would be a replacement but not necessarily an upgrade? Or are there other considerations?

Just be sure to get the axle with the AL arm as it's a touch longer than the steel axle.
Also, the chain sliders & rear hugger/fender are different between the two arms...

One last question: ever since I change the OEM wheel to the SC wheels I have notice a rash sound, nothing is disintegrating, I hope, but does any one could give me the exact swing arm assemble list, since I think I might be missing something or maybe the position of the spacers is wrong (no apparent wheel malfunction etc but that little noise is killing me) thanks! [bang] [bow_down]
Why bother with an aluminum swinger. If the stock steel is damaged just get another stock steel swinger. Steel has a long fatigue life, aluminum doesn't. Steel is stronger. Why upgrade to a weaker material. Weight savings? You won't feel it. The spoked wheels' unsprung weight will kill the benefit from any weight savings you might achieve. Bling/finish? Just get the steel one powdercoated and put some bling endcaps & adjusters on it. Plug N Play. It's a 620, just sayin

I doubt anyone could give a better "assemble list" than an OE parts break-down, but I'll try anyways.

rash sound (assuming you've ridden it for a while like this) is usually a bearing that's going out and 9 times out of 10, the bearing is going out because someone somewhere forgot the spacers on the axle shaft, or put them in the wrong way. For instance, on the sprocket side, furthest out *just* inside of the swingarm, there is a cone shaped washer. The larger part of the cone needs to face the swingarm. I bet I've seen 20 that someone somewhere put in incorrectly.

We also need to keep in mind that this is an international community with members from all over. In some places a 620cc bike is a big bike. In some places it's a huge bike. [Dolph]
I put the AL swingarm on my M695, mostly because I didn't like the look of the steel one, which is a budget item. While I had them both off I compared their resistance to flex in a couple of directions and the AL was noticeably stiffer. Steering seems a bit more precise, and the AL is 2 1/2 lbs. lighter for less unsprung weight. My 695 is all black and the AL arm matches the silver forks in a nice way.
