Title: Exhaust pipes size 1100?
Post by: greenmonster on July 21, 2017, 02:44:41 PM
Is there a consensus on what size is optimal f a 1100
for best overall performance
40 or 45 mm for one w just free breathing & mapping?
45 (or even 50) essential w HC, cams & porting?
Tried searching but no cigar.

In the DP catalogue there are Termi pipes for HM 1100's that run from 40 /45 to 50ish then out to 54mm for 2 into 1 systems. The 2 into 1 into 2 system appears similar. The 1100 Monster systems do not have a size in the description but are described as "oversized using the same routing of the standard system for maximum effeciency". Iirc the Termi systems often end in 54mm to fit the cans. Im no exhaust expert. What systems you looking at?
Sorry that's all I got.

IMO, 45mm would be enough.

50mm would perhaps cost some bottom end power..... but there's heaps of that already, so maybe it'd be better.

Most of the 1100's I've ridden have been a bit nutty for 25-35 mph riding in town.

A customer HM1100 that has a 'slow-cam' throttle tube is really nice.
It's got an aftermarket full system on it, I'll try to get diameters off it.

My MTS 1100 w Termi full system has 40 mm o/d and
uses original 2-1 54 mm o/d pipe.

DP map is wonderful f low speed jerkiness, pulls flawlessly
from 1700.
