Title: TOMTOM rider 450
Post by: Dino737 on July 27, 2017, 04:21:13 AM
Dear all,

I would like to install a TOMTOM rider 450 on my monster 821.
Anyone did this already and can share a picture?
Or anyone has some feedback about the TOMTOM rider in general?

Thank you already for your answers!!

Greetings,

Dino

Riding friend of mine got his this summer and it seems intuitive and quick. Strong point over Garmin is that the battery connection can easily be disconnected if you want to remove the cradle. From what I hear online, the home computer route planning software is also far better.

Hey.
I have the tom tom rider 400 since last year. Works fine but i am still learning and since today i can say it is waterproof (heavy rain). One big advantage, as already mentioned, is the connection at the cable - makes it usable on more than one bike. The cable can be purchased separately.
you only need to hook it up to your battery, which is probably the most difficult part (1100evo, don't know if the battery is still under the tank, but probably is). The cables are very thin. After that i just ran it up to the handlebar. One ram mount is included, but there are various available. I am using one at the mirror mount since i have barend mirrors.
Since it is hooked up directly to the battery it doesn't turn off when the engine is turned off and i don't know how hard it is on the battery.
So far so good.
