Title: Maintenance Code Won't Clear 2005 Monster 1000DS
Post by: varmicon_qa on July 30, 2017, 07:13:03 AM
I have a 2005 Monster 1000 with 7000 miles on it.  Maintenance has been followed as per the manual.  Full maintenance was done on the bike by the dealer back in April(all fluids, belts, valve clearance, etc.) and 800 miles have been put on it since.  I tried the trick of getting rid of the maintenance code by pressing the left button while turning on the ignition, waiting for the "sweep", holding for 15 seconds, then turning the key to off.  Also, my odometer now has ----- instead of milage on it.  Any suggestions?  Bike is running great by the way.

I still haven't found a trick to clear the  ----- from my odometer.  Anyone have an idea on how to clear so I can get my mileage back?

You'll either have to take it to the dealer, or get yourself a scan tool with a reset function.

Usually that sort of thing is a symptom of an instrument cluster with a hardware issue.

It would be worth having it looked at with diagnostic equipment to see if there's anything to be done.

I think the '05 clusters can be disassembled and inspected, and I do recall a very few being repaired by very talented owners.

If the dealer can't do anything try theses folks  http://sosdiagnostics.com/ducati.html

They can also kill the immobilizer if you want.
