Title: 2000 m600 not starting RESOLVED
Post by: madmaxxx81 on August 15, 2017, 03:36:16 PM
Hi everyone.
I bought m600 some time ago and every so often it has stopped to react on start button randomly.
It became more and more frequent until it has compeletly stopped to start. I've tested kill switch, starter relay and the starter motor all good. I bought new main relay and ignition units, charged battery to 100% and Monster still dead.
Anyone have been in this situation?

That battery may be full but is it still strong? A load test will tell. Does the battery voltage drop below 10V on start up? Do you hear the relay and solenoid click on start? Check the starter switch connector to the solenoid too. Is there a side dtand kill switch on your model? Check it by bypassing/bridging it with a paperclip.
Just some suggestions.

Battery voltage 11.4,
main relay does click at the ignition switch ON and it's brand new,
starter switch connector checked,
Only side stand left to check but bike was always starting even with the side stand down which is interesting now.

If you've fully charged the battery and it's showing 11.4 volts, it's no good.

Your model may only have the sidestand warning light on the dash but no cut out function.
Was that voltage after charging or the voltage drop under starting load?

More info please!  First answer Speeddog's question.

Then:
    Lights come on?
    Main relay click?
    Solenoid click?

If you apply battery voltage directly to the starter does the bike crank?  (make sure the bike is in neutral)

On a rear stand, spark plugs out, in gear does the engine turn?

If so:

Car, bike same stuff

If the problem is at the starter lug use caution  The lug breaks easily.

Not only will it break, but you can turn it in the plastic holder if you don't use two wrenches. Be sure to hold the lower nut from turning.
