Title: New member in the Charlotte area Post by: zanethan on September 28, 2017, 06:47:05 AM Hey everyone,
Finally got around to joining. Name is Zane and I've been riding a monster since 2012. My first one was a 1999 Monster 750 dark with 3,000 miles that I picked up for $2500. I rode it daily for the most part and doubled the miles within the first year. Mileage was around 12,000 when I sold it. I loved that bike but had just outgrown it. I've since inherited my dads 2006 S2R800 with 19,000 miles as his back is too messed up to ride anymore. Pics below, looking forward to learning a lot from you guys. Nice bikes. Does the step up in performance feel greater than 50cc? Title: Re: New member in the Charlotte area Post by: zanethan on September 29, 2017, 06:16:58 AM Thanks! I do feel like there is a big gain in performance over the 50cc's. Most of it is probably due to the extra gear and lower gearing on the S2R. It just feels like a better overall package when I compared the two. Plus I couldn't justify having 2 of essentially the same bike.

The 800 also has quite a few engine upgrades including higher compression, better cams and bigger valves, not to mention the EFI. There are articles showing the 800 making about the same peak power as the old carbed 900. The S2R is also such a looker. [thumbsup]

The 800 is as much bike as I want in a monster, if I feel the need for more I'd likely get a different platform and keep the 800.
