Title: how to use safety wire - quick change sprocket and carrier - s2r 800
Post by: cmejia1978 on September 28, 2017, 04:48:58 PM
¡Hi there! I have a quick change sprocket and carrier which I am about to service. I notice the safety wire so my questions would be:

1. Where to buy safety wire

2. How to install

Thank you

You need...

this... https://www.ebay.com/i/281802881222?chn=ps&dispItem=1

Safety wire is always installed so that it won't allow a fastener to loosen. That's why you see it entering the fastener in a certain orientation. I'm sure there's a youtube video.

Is safety wire really needed on a street bike? Neither one of mine came with it. Never had a fastener back out on its own. I think blue threadlocker & a torque wrench should be sufficient. Seems to me the safety wire thing is kind of a waste of time & energy especially for a street bike.  ???
