Title: Fueling Issue Monster 1100 EVO (Finally Resolved)
Post by: EEL on October 09, 2017, 08:35:57 AM
Just a lesson learned for all others that do this.

I had a rexxer ECU flash with O2 sensors removed and servo motor deleted. On top of that I had a power commander with autotune overlayed

See link below from 2015 for history

I've always had issues with fueling with my bike. As much as the power commander has helped, these never seemed to go away. That changed this weekend.

Despite hearing from multiple sources on the web (including some reputable dealer/service posts) that the TPS on the Siemens ECU is auto reset, I went ahead and took it to a dealership to reset the TPS and clear the underlying adaptive parameters baked into the ECU.  I had tried turning the key on an off a dozen times in a row without starting the bike up and that didn't work either.

I had a hunch that the timing was off and I bit the bullet and took it in. Maybe its a rexxer reflash issue but its clear now that the TPS and adaptive parameters were the culprit. Perhaps they don't autoreset after the flash.

Bottom line, I believe the spark advance was not calibrated in the ecu to the actual throttle position. The proof is in the fueling! Immediately after the TPS was reset, the bike ran better across the entire fuel range. The autotune suddenly discerned a change and started taking bucketloads of fuel out of the mapping.(-18 units in some spots)

For those attempting this in the future. Get the TPS and adaptive parameters reset after the flash! Don't trust everything on the internet!

The bike is running much better, more power and with better fuel economy to boot!
