Title: S4RT - Speedometer intermittently stops working Post by: Heath on October 10, 2017, 11:38:22 AM First.. no the needle is not slipping :P
I have a 2007 S4RT with the gauges replaced by SOS Diagnostics. Not sure what bike the gauges came from (the face is black), but something with a different magnetic pick up because the speed was way off. It was reading 44% too low. So I run a 12oclocklabs SPEEDODRD speedometer corrector to fix it. I've been on this set up for a couple years now with no problems. It was way more accurate then any bike I have had. Recently after a hard acceleration the speedometer will just go to zero. No movement while riding, the needle hasn't slipped, it just doesn't move. This has happened twice so far on two different days. I can pull over, shut the bike off and turn it back on. The gauges will sweep and start working like nothing happened. Is there anything I should look at in particular? I have been riding more aggressive lately so it seems like I am accelerating faster than how I have ridden in the past. I didn't think I was too quick for the gauges though haha. Bad Speedo Bad speed sensor (count that one out if the odometer works) Bad speedometer corrector Wiring I would start by eliminating the speedometer corrector. Problem disappears, you found the culprit. Excluding M1200, 1100, 796 ABS models, SSS Monsters pick up off of 4 pegs attached to the rear disc itself. Swapping speedos across configurations will read 50% high and 33% low, aided and abetted by the built-in ~10% high speedo reading if you're comparing against GPS or some other accurate method. Title: Re: S4RT - Speedometer intermittently stops working Post by: Heath on October 10, 2017, 07:36:18 PM I'll check the connectors to see if anything looks out of the ordinary. I know the bolts that I have are titanium but looking at it today looks like there are magnet pick ups near by? I don't know what I am looking for though.

Howie - nothing, just been riding and checking tire pressure. She needs a good wash and hasn't gotten that for a while either. Title: Re: S4RT - Speedometer intermittently stops working Post by: Heath on October 16, 2017, 10:25:29 PM I am going to give a good look at it tomorrow. Tonight I was riding along just cruising 70mph, happened to look down and it wasn't working. A few minutes later I glance down again and its working again. Silly gremlins
