Title: normal tire clearance at mufflers S*R bikes
Post by: booger on October 23, 2017, 10:39:29 AM
Does anyone have a definitive dimension regarding the muffler(s) clearance at the rear tire? How much clearance should there be? I'm running a full Arrow exhaust on a 2007 S4R.

There can't possibly be a single number.

Every manufacturer's tires vary as to width.

There needs to be enough to not hit the exhaust. ;)

...which is quite easy to establish: to little and the cans/brackets will touch the tire by bumps/vibration.

I have the same system on an S2R.

I couldnt give you an exact number with all the variables, but its close enough that I unbolt the bracket from the frame for tire changes and far enough out that there is zero danger of it contacting the tire, even under full compression.  hope that helps? ???
