Aren’t they in the same garage?
Someone from the factor can’t say, psst, you might want to. . . I cringe every time he comes down a straight. Rooting for the Ducs and the two Americans on the grid. Jacobsen got a top 10 and although Gagne finished DFL, he was in the points!! Hope he finds his footing as he gets to a few of the tracks he wild carded at last year. Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: ducpainter on March 28, 2018, 02:52:59 AM Has to be a set-up geometry thing.
I think Marco runs a steeper steering head angle, so he can turn the bike, than Chaz. Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: Speeddog on March 28, 2018, 07:47:55 AM Davies is 7" taller and ~20 lbs heavier than Melandri

That 20lbs and 7" would account for the set up changes that's for sure. Chaz sounds closer to average height. It's not thrown him down on the ground from it (?), so I guess he must be OK with it. Looks minimum wheelbase, minimum steering head angle so Marco can get more heat in the tires and quicker handling. The Duc still has the compromise of the front cylinder head occupying the space where they would rather have the wheel. I don't think that setup would do well at the end of the straight at Mugello (though no SBK there). Took your advice and went back to WSBK. I had to go 4 pages deep in the news section to see he had a big time high side. It would have been way easier for someone to just tell me that. https://www.superbikeplanet.com/world-superbike-boss-lavilla-suggests-jon-reas-wsbk-domination-is-a-problem/ Is the lack of charisma or the domination of one rider and one manufacturer an official problem as DORNA sees it? Obviously not because if Rea’s domination was viewed as an issue then assuredly DORNA would create a stepping stone for Rea to move into MotoGP and open WSBK back up. But he has had little opportunity there. This is the reality. ...because Dorna is motivated by money, and there's more money for Dorna with Rae in SBK. Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: duccarlos on October 02, 2018, 03:46:31 AM And I disagree about the issue with Rossi retiring. In fact, having Rossi “struggle” the past 2 seasons, has allowed his fans an opportunity to see what the other riders are bringing. The rabid fans might not come back, but the more casual Rossi fans will simply find the next best rider as long as it’s not MM
Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: ducpainter on October 02, 2018, 03:51:25 AM When the GOAT retires from riding he'll still be in the paddock, and have his fans support his teams/riders.
MM will become the poster child of GP. Carmello said so. :P Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: duccarlos on October 02, 2018, 03:58:41 AM And they could move Rea over to MotoGP if they really wanted, but they want someone like Cal.

They need to start pumping more young talent to WSBK, instead of it becoming the preferred retirement home for old MotoGP guys. They need to start pumping more young talent to WSBK, instead of it becoming the preferred retirement home for old MotoGP guys. Sykes and Melandri currently have no ride for next year.If Rea moves up that will be room for 3 young guns. That way the dominant figure is gone and there's room for new talent. Where that talent comes from remains to be seen. I still think Rae's dominance is the real problem. The racing is no longer exciting. Even having him start from 9th does little to no good. He's typically riding off into the sunset by the second lap. Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: GregP on October 16, 2018, 04:44:46 AM Sykes and Melandri currently have no ride for next year. I still think Rae's dominance is the real problem. The racing is no longer exciting. Even having him start from 9th does little to no good. He's typically riding off into the sunset by the second lap. I’ve taken to watching the races in fast forward mode they are so boring. When the broadcast is focused on the race for 7th place, that’s not really much of a show. I know these things go in cycles but WSBK has really become a real snoozer. Gagne seems to be making progress but it seems the CBR isn’t sorted, which is surprising. Hopefully he continues to make his way up the grid. PJ seems to just be a grid filler at this point but I still root for the Americans because I’m such a patriot!! [laugh] [laugh] Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: duccarlos on October 16, 2018, 06:37:16 AM I obviously wish that Rea would be given a shot at a MotoGP ride. I can only assume that the transition is smoother than from Moto2. Another thing to consider is if he even wants to make a switch. He’s dominating on a manufacturer that’s not on the MotoGP grid. I assume He’s Kawasaki’s golden child and are unlikely to simply let him go.

Johnny won't get his chance to own the most wins record, outright, this year. Title: Re: WSBK 2018 spoiled Post by: koko64 on October 27, 2018, 11:41:14 AM Moto GP is the next step. Surely Newcastle Brown Ale or some UK brewer can make it happen.
