So I killed my lithium battery a few months back. Left the key on.
Battery tender that claimed to have recovery capability couldn't recharge it.
Today, I recalled that the claim was something like "a much higher initial charge rate, then back to a low charge rate."
So I took my big battery charger and set it for 200A start, and started the bike with it. Lithium battery appears to have been resuscitated.

Deep cycle batteries are similar. They need to be charged at a higher rate than tenders provide.
What's weird is it's not like I actually charged it. More like I defibrillated the internal control circuit...
I'll keep that in mind when the circuit fails and the battery burns my bike to the ground. :)

Similar experience here - battery tender wouldn't charge the lithium battery in my track bike, but I attached my old Sears charger, put in in "activate" mode, left it on for an hour (anxiously checking it every few minutes) and now the battery works great.

Was it an EarthX? They can be defibbed in a similar manner to switch them back on after overcharging or overdischarging has triggered the inbuilt protective circuit.
To defib a Shorai I use inertia charging with my car charger and a voltmeter, never exceeding 15V.
