Title: Greetings from Canada
Post by: ChchS4 on May 31, 2018, 08:57:57 AM
Somehow I managed to not notice the "please introduce yourself" suggestion when I first joined this incredibly useful and inspiring forum some years ago. I joined while living in New Zealand where I bought my first Ducati, a 2004 S4. At the time, I had intended to buy another BMW after having owned several of them during the previous 30 years, but when I went to test a candidate BMW, it was sitting next to this thing of beauty, the above mentioned red S4. A quick test ride and I was its new owner.

Canadian vehicle importation laws prevented me from bringing that bike home when I moved back to Canada so it was sold to a very lucky person from Wellington. I then bought my current ride, a 2007 Monster S4r which is even more temperamental than the S4. My Italian heritage prepared me well for this kind of personality and it seems to be an important part of the Ducati experience. I recently sold to a collector my 1984 Kawasaki Ninja 900 which I bought in 1985 from someone who needed the money. Nothing ever broke or did not work on that bike and it had amazing power and handling but it lacked the soul that comes standard with a Ducati.

Many thanks to all of the good people who are so willing and able to provide incredibly useful and helpful advice on this forum to those who need it. It is much appreciated!

Ride safe and with "anima".

Nello

Belated welcome. 😃

I graduated from a VFR800 (bought brand new) to a 2001 M900S ie for the same reason. No soul.
