Title: Speed Reader not working
Post by: Hommsmonster on July 11, 2018, 05:20:08 AM
Hi. So i had a bash recently while on my monster, someone ran into me allegedly suffering from brake failure. He was driving his car, a Peugeot 307. damages here and there but all sorted out. Now, the bike skidded for about 10 meters but luckily i had crash guards as well as swing arm spools on front and rear tires, so no engine or frame damage. However, the bike didn't start so i got scared. My mech took a look at it, did something and bike started up no issues. i don't know what he did  ;) :). But i discovered that the speed reader on the odometer doesn't budge when I'm riding so i don't know what speed I'm doing. everything else is OK and reads out fine. Please, what could the fault/problem be?????? eagerly awaiting ur feedback guys. thank You. Hommsmonster.

What model you got there? Later model with sensor?
Early models have a cable operated speedo off the front wheel and later models an electronic rear wheel sensor near the rear brake reading off a disc bolt. Look at the caliper bracket for a small sensor and follow the wire. Check for cable or wire damage to the sensor. Probably a pinched wire or the sensor itself.

Check out the topic above titled "speed sensor" about repairing a damaged sensor. There are pics of the sensor and wires. [thumbsup]
