Hi everyone! Long time, no see. I haven't posted here in ages, but today our home was broken into and they took the keys to my 2000 M750 and to my '86 Indiana. I'm trying to figure out if I'll have to order new locksets or if it's possible to have the keys remade. The Indy is going to be a tough one, since it's nearly impossible to find parts and the key is rather funky looking.
Thankfully neither bike was in the garage when it happened, and I'll not be bringing them back here since the thieves specifically took my Ducati keys but ignored the keys to the shiny new Beemer that was sitting in the garage.
I thought before I started calling dealers and looking for locksets, I'd ask y'all.
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I would recommend changing the starter switch and seat lock . . .
A good locksmith can re-do your existing locks on the M750, essentially altering the positions of the the existing parts and making new/matching keys.
It may be cheaper to buy a complete lockset on the used market.
Dunno about the Indiana, not seen one myself, but I imagine it would be a similar procedure.
Thanks, guys. The Indiana is a pretty rare bird. I'm glad to know a locksmith could re-tool them a bit. I'm more worried about the Indy than the Monster.
If the locksmith can't/won't do anything do any of these look like your switch?

Thanks! I'll have to compare and see. It's a start, anyway. I don't have the bikes here with me (thank goodness!) but I'll check out the Indiana when I get back to my sister's.
