So I'm jumping in and fixing my shift mechanism and happen to notice the dots on the timing gears appear to be one tooth off. The bike runs fine and the engine turns without any problems but at the same time I like having my ducs in a row (pun fully intended). So I'm wondering if its something I should address or just keep moving forward? This is the first time I believe the engine was ever opened as well.

Well, I see it now, and I agree.
Everything is happening ~14-15 degrees early/advanced.
As long as it's not hitting the intake valves, it likely runs hard even low in the range (fairly difficult to tell, it's an 1100 and pulls like a bull anyway)
I have not had one of those engines open, so no FHE.
Time to get hold of a service manual.
Thanks for the input Speeddog, so far I haven't found any evidence of interference with the valves. It's also the only 1100 I have rode so I haven't been able to compare, but I can agree with it pulling hard down low.
I'll probably button it back up and finish up what's left of the riding season and dive into it when the snow starts to fall.
