Title: Thunder Rally
Post by: mattyvas on July 22, 2008, 08:59:25 PM
Thunder Rally 2008, I know some of us have already committed to other things this year for our annual trips etc....
I for one am doing Tourismo for the first time and can't afford the time to run this event as well. But we can still enter as not attending and make a donation to the unit. The info below came from Our AuntyMal new to the DMF and a bit of a collector/owner from my chat with him last week.
More details and a copy of the entry form can be downloaded at www.docnsw.org.au
Cheers
Matty...

Here is the current 'interim' form for this year's event. The sponsors keep coming on board and so I say 'interim' coz the form sometimes changes a little. The actual registration details don't change and the whole thing is 98% stable! The details are all on the entry form, the event has been going since 1982 when I was prez, the first time, of the docnsw (I helped start the rally). Here are some facts, *Its is the second or third longest running rally; *It is the longest running charity rally; *Over 9000 riders have travelled 7,000,000ks supporting it; *The money raised goes to the Moorong Spinal Unit, Royal Rehabilitation Centre, Ryde; *Her Excellency Prof' Marie Bashir, Governor. is the Centre Patron; *All bikes and riders are WELCOME, (its not 'just a Ducati thing'); *The trade sponsors and the long time attendees understand that its all about 'good citizenship' corporate or individual; *Without the trade support, and the understanding of fellow riders, we wouldn't be viable, so, thank you, in anticipation!
Matt, could you emulate what the docnsw, and hunterdogs, have done in putting a splash-pointer on the site enabling access to the flyer/form? There is a non attendance option, riders still get their goodies, even if they can't come on the day. Why not evaluate the potential to enter as a 'club'? There is a prize for 'Highest Club Attendance'. It goes on pre-paid entries and is hotly contested. 'DMFwebriders'?...or something. Finally would listers like to come along on Sunday September 28th to Mt White, for the 'Registration Day' everyone who signs up gets a free mug of cappuccino!

This is truley a wonderful part of NSW, like you said Aunty, its an excellent jump off point if you are doing 'The Oxley' a very nice pub in town with very good meals, which reminds me, you still owe me a bottle of plonk Aunty, anyway, I like the idea for non attendees, how do we do this??

[clap]Mick! I'll be proud to tell my grandchildren I had privilege of owing ewe a bottle of plonkus! Vino Collapso comes to mind! The non attend thing means you still get your goodies, and the Spinal Unit still gets its dough, and its there coz there is so much on at that time of year but all the regular Rally folk tell me they like that weekend and not to change it etc....something about the end of the school holidays and so on. There are good trout in the Dam, my best went 3lb cleaned!....and this year we have Blues Man "Merewether fats" playing on the Saturday knight. We'd love to see the campfire light illuminating lots of Ducatis, and a heap of Monsters in particular, so think of entering, there are heaps of solid prizes donated by the sponsors, riding apparel, vouchers, lucky dips, and passes to the Super Bikes etc. The local community Lyons Club does the catering for dinner and breakfast, its just an all round good scene. AND its not "just a Ducati thing" , its about inclusion, not the other way 'round, and as such, has very broad support from the overall community of riders, if you only do one rally a year, this should be the one........ Kind regards, Aunty Mal [clap] ps. email me and I'll send you a form, auntymal@live.com.au
