Title: '07 Monster 695 -Evap removal leading to Oil leak?
Post by: KingPringles on September 02, 2018, 02:56:05 PM
Hi Folks,

New owner to an "old" 2007 695 (4.5k miles) here. Last night, I removed the EVAP canister and just began noticing small oil leaks this morning.

Considerations:
-Am I only supposed to plug two hoses with m6 bolts? Tossed the third waste hose connected to the EVAP but there was another thicker hose labeled "Fuel" that ended up getting pulled off completely with the EVAP.

-The two throttle hoses are plugged and routed up the frame towards the rear (Do these need to face down?)

-Rode about 10 miles at varying speeds and didn't notice any reduction in power

-The bike was dropped (melted asphalt) last week --only damage was to the steering lock and bar end mirrors (but maybe something else?)

-There's a slow drip collecting at the bottom of the left crankcase and a separate suspicious area trickling down to the kickstand.

Probably a ton of potential causes for these minor oil leaks but wanted to get everyone's thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

I can't see how anything you did with the canister has anything to do with an oil leak.  If the hoses are plugged direction makes no difference.  Anyway, either cap the fittings with these  https://preview.tinyurl.com/ycw6emyk  or remove the fittings and install (I think) 6mm. flat head screws with crush washers.  The hose that says "fuel" needs to be put back on the tank and run safely behind the engine.  You do not want gasoline dripping on the engine.

If you haven't already done so, clean the area well, run and inspect,  Oil travels.
