Title: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: koko64 on September 16, 2018, 01:52:20 PM The 750 kit still available? Buddy has good reasons to convert to 750 rather than buy a 900 or 1000.

Hard to come by, if he wants to convert, have him go the 695 or 696 way or maybe 796 . . . I still have to get my engine of my frame and ship it to NH . . . Took me forever to get a customs permit for me to be able to send the engine to swap crankcasesTitle: Re: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: koko64 on September 16, 2018, 06:24:28 PM Cheers Cuz [thumbsup]
Title: Re: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: caperix on September 17, 2018, 08:09:02 AM If the bottom end is still good, you can find used 695, 750, or 800 cylinders & get hi compression 750 pistons. It may be cheaper than shipping the complete engine.

There's Pistals, and they're gorgeous, but they're not cheap. 695/800 heads and 695/750/800 cylinders, OEM 750 pistons (likely to be a good idea to check valve-piston carefully, pistons may need a bit of surgery to clear the bigger valves) 695/800 pistons won't work (easily) as they're 2.15mm taller/2.25mm shorter One can do a thick base 'gasket' or mill the cylinders to get the deck height correct in either case, but the belt tensioner adjustment hit its limits or thereabouts. I mocked this up ages ago, I've got notes somewhere. This is all under review in my fleet, as my shop M750's motor is sounding and feeling tired and I need to change platforms. FBF hi comp 750 pistons and a reborn reline of 620 barrels viable? Do they have enough meat on the cylinder?

Or, am I wrong?Title: Re: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: ducpainter on September 17, 2018, 04:14:50 PM If me memory don't fail, FBF is outta business . . . Or, am I wrong? They still have a website. :-\Pretty sure FBF pistons are made by J&E. But I know I am not that crazy and "a while" back they announced they were closingPretty sure FBF pistons are made by J&E. Title: Re: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: Speeddog on September 17, 2018, 06:48:58 PM IIRC manufactured by JE exclusively for FBF to FBF specs.
Title: Re: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: POCO LOCO on October 22, 2018, 04:08:30 PM Business is done , but Enzo is still around selling pistons. Bought some 620 big bore pistons from him last spring. have the correct cylinders from an 800 waiting to be dropped in,........when the 620 blows.

Title: Re: 750 Kit for 620 Post by: koko64 on January 18, 2019, 02:33:27 AM Sorry but the 750 is not impressive. Trade and upscale I like the grunt of the big bore bikes and wish I could bore my 900 to 1200! That being said I used to say the same thing, which is correct when it comes to outright torque and power. However, against my advice I helped a guy out with a hi comp, light flywheel, mildly ported , remodelled airbox, FCR39 equipped M750 project. When riding the bike during the tuning process I was really impressed with the balance and sweetness of the motor. I think the 750 is a better balanced motor with greater rideability. This bike is a real joy to ride and very quick on mountain roads. When I got my own relatively stock 750 it reminded me how sweet the bike is. I have changed my opinion and understand why JD Hord likes them so much. That rideability will suit my buddy and his specific needs quite well. |
