Title: Front Fender Straps. I need them. They're expencive
Post by: Allaband on October 05, 2018, 09:42:32 PM
Can anyone help me find those 4 straps that hold on the front fender? The guy I bough the bike from attached the fender with zip ties and it's way too close to the tire for me. I have a 2000 Monster 900. Those straps are very expensive every place I can find them. Is there another solution? A cheaper part from another model year? Anything?

Also, my front fender is red. I would prefer it black. Before I paint it, is there anyone with a black fender who wants to trade for a red fender?

Thanks!

Straps 74110211A ~$17 each, 74110221A ~$11 each, brand new from dealer.

Seem to be $40-$50 a set of 4 on EBay.
They do occasionally fail, the brass threaded insert seizes to the bolt, spins in the plastic body, and then the clamp is junk and usually must be cut off.
Virtually impossible to detect via EBay pics.

There are two varieties; the white plastic ones are symmetrical, and the black ones have offset (so swapping those side to side provides higher/lower fender position).

Thanks for the info. I'll look for the black ones. Crazy how expensive that little plastic strap is.

Seems a good bit of cash, yeah, but they hold up well and do the job perfectly.
A little grease on the bolts so they don't seize up.

OEM screws are 77210631A, washers 85610421A

There may be alternatives that are better than zipties and cheaper than OEM, I've not seen them.
