Title: help with immobilizer/instrument panel/ecu flashing.
Post by: 9ineballer on December 18, 2018, 06:06:48 PM
hello. so I recently purchased an 04 sr4 from a copart auction. bike is a bit rough as it came with the instrument panel missing.
it did come with original keys including the red key, but im trying to figure out my options. do i send the ecu somewhere to have it upgraded
/immobilizer removed? i have an aftermarket gauge id like to use with it . or should i try and find a stock instrument panel? they don't seem
very available, and surely not cheap . not sure if this matters, but it does have a power commander it came with.
I haven't tried to start it or anything as i assume the missing instrument panel would prevent it from happening.
if anyone can let me know what to do it would be very appreciated. thanks

Your best option is to have the ecu flashed to remove the immobilizer function.

At that point the gauges are up to you, whether aftermarket or used OEM.

You can also search ecu reflash on the search function here on the board and get other options.

lol after giving the bike a good look over , i just realized the ecu is missing as well. . so i am going to assume that i need to buy an ecu from ebay then have it flashed ,yah?
does anyone sell a pre-flashed (immobilizer removed ) ecu?  i'll check the sponsor link and most likely go with them for the flash thanks for the responses guys !

I would absolutely recommend talking to MotoWhels. They will know excactly what you need and not try to sell you more than you need. Other places might be good, but we KNOW that MotoWheels are  [thumbsup]

motowheels sells a stand alone ecu. https://motowheels.com/i-8351346-microtec-m197-replacement-ecu-for-ducati.html

No FHE with that unit.

Aftermarket gauge is far from plug-n-play, just sayin`.
+1 on checking what Motowheels can offer.

i thought i read somewhere that whoever does the flash can also remove limitations that prevent an aftermarket instrument/gauge panel from being used.

i checked with mototec and they no longer do flashes although they did make a recommendation. and i am going to assume the aftermarket system is $$$.
guess i just have to find someone on ebay selling an ecu instrument panel combo. are the keys tied onto the system as well?

hello, to use a counter other than the original, it is imperative to remove the immobilizer of your original ECU.

I recently mounted a MotoGadget counter on an S4R, once the immobilizer removed, I even removed the key switch.

you can see with this person he is extremely competent

Does this guy speak english? Unfortunately I don't speak french.
While I could email him I'm just concerned with follow up service/questions.
