(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190402/10cc64643c5eef217101d67b265ce3c5.jpg)Hi guys,
I dropped my bike to mechanic for oil change. Had fresh Motul in it, but wanted to go back to Shell advance, which is recommended in manual.
It surprised me that mechanic didn't position bike vertically to let all the oil inside to drain.
When he filled in the new oil, the oil in window was still green (Motul). He told me that it is normal and certain amount of oil ( about 200g) will stay in there anyway. He also says that nowadays it doesn't matter which brand you are using, there is a standard for oil production which makes them all to work together.
Today after short ride I inspected the window and there was some bubbles in it. I have attached photos. Is it normal? Also the oil level was above max in fact it covers all window, but I guess that is because of hot engine. Tomorrow I will check the oil level again.
I realize that this questions may seem foolish for somone, but I need to make this thing clear to myself.
Some of what he says is true.
Did he drain the oil on the side stand?
Do check the level cold. Overfull is not good. dp's question would explain overfull. The mechanic is correct, not all the oil drains out.
Any full synthetic name brand motorcycle oil of the correct weight, in you case, MA because you have a wet clutch is fine. Many dealers do not use Shell Advance. Nor do the repair manuals have a brand requirement.
No question is foolish. Not asking a question is.
Also, good read http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=1912.0

They call me DP for short...ducpainter
MA is the oil classification. Different engines have different requirements.
More than you need to know... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_oil
While it's true that not every last drop will drain out if the bike is vertical, draining on the side stand just means he's lazy.
Cheers guys! Appreciate your prompt replyðŸ'ðŸ»
