Title: 3/4 Dave RIP
Post by: koko64 on October 22, 2019, 01:05:58 AM
Its with a heavy heart I'm sharing that Dave Hack passed away today. A real world hero of mine who's determination and courage allowed him to overcome many obstacles. Dave rode with only his left hand and was inspired by the Aussie racer Alan Kempster who raced with only one arm and leg (famously awarded the race number "1/2").

Dave was on a long riding holiday and was having the time of his life on his 620 Monster when a truck crossed into his lane.

Dave often talked of the peace and serenity he felt when riding his motorcycle and he was totally enamored with his Ducati. While not a member Dave was known to members here, and his bike with its one armed rider mods, and his record for hitting wildlife at speed, (somehow without crashing), have appeared here.

Dave was loved by many and will be sadly missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

Thanks Nate.
Dave was a special one in the group, a real lovable odd bod and misfit.

Dave's right arm died after a head on bike to bike crash as a young bloke when cresting a hill while dirt riding. The crash nearly killed him but he overcame that hurdle and developed a bear claw of a left hand and a forearm like Popeye. He kept the bad arm but had an inner sleeve put in his jackets to secure it so it didn't get in the way.

The bloke had balls like a bull. [beer]

Rest in paradise Dave I hope you find yourself in motorcycle heaven somewhere beyond this world.  Although I never met you I knew you well from the many stories Tony loving shared with me.

A true inspiration to us all.  [beer]

We finally got to spread Dave's ashes at a memorial run held early this summer. About a dozen of us rode along some of his favourite roads in the Yarra Valley. We ended up at a lookout called Murchesons Gap (Valley of a Thousand Hills) , near Strath Creek, Broadford and Flowerdale in Victoria, Australia.

It was a fitting place to let him go and the wind carried his ashes off into the valley from the elevated lookout.

The group had a drink later at a new taven in Strath Creek and shared many funny stories about a well loved character.

I believe we exchanged some wildlife encounter hit stories, but his were bigger and better stories. Ride In Peace, RIP dude!
